chai's story.

as i was able to shoot some pictures for the atwood family, trevor and keva mentioned to me that they wanted to include their son, chai, who passed away last summer. i mentioned in my last post that i felt blessed to be able to see the grace that the atwoods have been able to receive and this grace comes in the form of strength and encouragement during the pain of losing their son. chai's story and seeing the atwoods live life trusting in God's truths has been a huge encouragement to me.

trevor and i met while he was the college pastor at the summit and being able to be encouraged by him has been a blessing as i have tried to understand God's plan for me. when i heard the news about chai i was, to put it in a simple word, sad. i was then able to read a blog post from trevor and keva's blog. i was encouraged and pushed more towards Jesus.

after reading that post i still said to myself: 'i don't think i could have responded that way.' 'how are they able to do this.'

another post by trevor was able to lead me to truth and realize that because my Father is looking after me, and loves me so much that he sent his Son to die a death that i deserve, that i can ultimately hope and rest in His truth. trevor puts it so well in his post:

Like Abraham, God reminded me of his promise when I needed it most. Like Paul, through His promise I understood the response and need for suffering. But he didn’t put me in the situation until I was ready, because he promises He will never allow me to be tempted beyond what I can bear (1 Cor 10:12-13). So the Atwoods are not any sort of “Super Christians”. We are simply hurting people who Believe and Remember the promise of God and Wait for Him to make it happen.

thankful that God uses tough moments in our lives to bring us closer to Him and trust in Him.

here are some pics from the shoot that include chai.

here are some videos that the summit west club made around Christmas time about the atwoods and chai's story.

also here is more of chai's story on trevor and keva's blog.

come quickly Jesus.
